The Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center and its Scholars Program is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $721,000 annually with no percentage of the work being financed with non-governmental sources. Program Eligibility

​PA AHEC Scholars must:

  • Be enrolled in a college-level health professions education training program in Pennsylvania.

  • Have reliable access to a computer and Wi-Fi Internet access.

  • Have reliable transportation to regional meetings and clinical observations.

Program Requirements

Each PA AHEC Scholar must:

  • Be committed to the program for two academic years, including the summer in between.

  • Complete 40 hours of didactic training (interactive, online) each year of the program.

  • Complete 40 hours of experiential learning (clinical and community-based) each year of the program (may require transportation).

  • PA AHEC Scholars will be asked to provide regular feedback on the program as part of a formative program evaluation.
